FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. (Nov. 3, 2009) Innova Electronics Corporation (IEC) is pleased to announce its OBDFix™ online resource earned a 2009 PTEN Innovation Award in the Repair Information Services category, and will be featured within the Top 25 November issue of Professional Tool & Equipment News magazine.  The OBDFix free online resource for professional automotive technicians was voted 13th out of the top 100 most requested product by PTEN readers, which serves as a vital key to technicians and repair shop owners.  Launched in 2008, OBDFix.com is an online resource designed to provide a place for North American automotive technicians to network regarding on-board diagnostic repair solutions.

“The idea behind this OBDFix site is simple, but our team has worked very hard to develop a useful technician resource and we are pleased to be recognized by this peer-based award,” says Keith Andreasen.  “When a technician needs help with a tough repair, they can retrieve the solution from OBDFix.com.  Members can also give back to fellow technicians by sharing how they fixed that hard-to-diagnose vehicle.”

A comprehensive database of OBD1 and OBD2 repair solutions for virtually all vehicle makes and models.  Members can look up DTC definitions, decode VINs and get specific code-related fixes.  Members can also access recalls and retrieve technical service bulletins with code-specific TSBs shown first.  Membership is free and open to current ASE technicians.  The site employs a scoring/grading system to determine a member’s status based on experience, certifications, participation and other means.  Acceptable grades are required to maintain use of the site, which ensures quality information is shared.

About the PTEN Innovation Awards

The Professional Tool & Equipment News Innovation Awards recognize those outstanding companies whose products respond to the automotive repair industry’s market challenges with creativity and innovation.  A panel of automotive repair industry professionals, including active and independent techs, shop owners, mechanics and tool distributors judge the nominees.  This year’s winning tools and equipment were selected as the top in a very tight race of products that were nominated and listed online and in PTEN’s February and March 2009 issues.
