Timing Lights

Q: My timing light is flashing erratically, what should I do?

A: Check the inductive pick-up for any accumulated grease or grime and that it is free of cracks. Also make sure that the inductive pick-up is as close to the spark plug as possible (always be careful of hot exhaust). If this does not resolve the problem, try another spark plug wire. If this works, you need to service the No. 1 plug or plug wire.

Q: My digital timing light (Model #3568 or #5568) is displaying RPM values while it's not even hooked up. Is something wrong?

A: No, there is nothing wrong with your timing light. Your timing light has a built in demo function that can be enabled by using the tip of a pen or paper clip and pushing the small button / hole in the center of the control panel while the unit is on. To disable the demo function simply disconnect the timing light clamp on the negative side of the battery for 5 seconds, then reconnect and use normally.

Q: Can I order a replacement inductive pick-up?

A: Yes, you can call us direct at 1-800-544-4124 to order a replacement. You will need to know the model number of your timing light when you call.
